Lil Wayne Vs. Karma-Ann Swanpoel

In a Louisina court house, on Tuesday May 27th, 2008, Karma-Ann Swanpoel's song "'Once'" is sampled by Lil Wayne in the mixtape track, "I Feel Like Dying". The lawsuit accuses the award-winning recording artist of copyright infringement. Karma-Ann Swanepoel claims Lil Wayne didn't have permission to sample a song by singer and is suing for compensatory damages, even though the rapper did not profit directly from the song as it was leaked to the internet and passed from person-to-person websites and not sold on any retail album. Karma-Ann Swanpoel ends up winning  the battle for $15 million and Lil Wayne got permission from her to publish her song on his new album that year called  Tha Carter III.

  2. I just read your post regarding Karma-Ann's lawsuit against Lil Wayne. Do you mind if I ask you where you learned about the $15 million recovery? Do you have a link? (The link you provided doesn't reveal the amount awarded).
